JOY!

YAY!! Happy Friday everyone! Do you have plans for the Weekend? Did you leave time for crafting and de-stressing? I know I will be crafting. I'm  working on a few things for next week, so you'll have to be sure to check back in with me. I love seeing what everyone is making!

Today I want to share with you how I made this card. I wanted something elegant and classic and took some ideas from other things I have seen out there. I love all the red and white cards for some reason. That's what pulled me to this project..

  1. I started with red card stock 4" x 5 1/4". I used a embossing folder from the paper studio and ran it through my big shot.
  2. I then cut several  white pieces using the second to the smallest Sizzix Regal Label die.
  3. The letters were cut using my Cricut machine and the Jasmine program. I used a linen textured card stock for the lettering.
  4. After searching through my stash I found this pretty glitter ribbon I bought last year and decided it would be perfect.
  5.  I placed the ribbon 1/3 across from the top of the red card stock and glued the ends behind it.
  6.  For the next step I adhered the embossed paper to a iridescent, or shimmery, white A2 card (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").
  7. The card needed some dimension so I used foam tape behind the white labels equally spaced along the ribbon.
  8. Adhering the letters was fun! It needed to sparkle so back to the stash..Hehehe...Don't you LOVE having a stash? I do! The little Jems just finished the card off.

Paper Smooches: PS DT Blog Hop: It's Pep Rally week and we are here today to share a sampling of the NEW  Paper Smooches  NOVEMBER release with you!  TWO  new   stamp...

Card #2 this week is Oh Snap!

When I was younger the Gingerbread Man was my brothers favorite story and I read it to him ALL the time. So  the minute my I saw the "Oh Snap!" Lawn Fawn set I fell in love with it. Not to long after I purchased the set I saw a card done with the Oh Snap set on Lawn Fawns Blog. I was instantly inspired to add my own twist and make this card.

  1. I started with an A2 size card (4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches) and I decided I want my table cloth to be red and white checker but I wanted some brown showing around the edges to pull everything together.
  2. I cut the brown card stock 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" I used a brown to darken the edges all the way around and then glued it to the card.
  3. I cut the red and white checker paper 4" x 5 1/4"
  4. I used a round 3" x 3" blank ivory colored tag from The Paper Studio and Tim Holtz Broken China and chipped sapphire Distress Ink to ink the ivory tag and make it look more like the edges of a plate.
  5. When I was at Hobby Lobby I found these tiny doilies from Art-c. They already had a tan distressed look to them and worked perfect for what I needed. I used Tim Holtz vintage photo Distress ink to darken the edges and then glued it to the center of my plate.
  6. After I stamped the gingerbread men I used my Big Shot and the coordinating dies from Lawn Fawn to cut my little men out of brown card stock matching the brown I already used as my first layer on the card.
  7. I darkened the edges of my little men with prismacolor pencils and I used the Tim Holtz Barn Door Distress Marker for the buttons on their tummy's.
  8. It was a lot of fun playing with the little men to find their spots. Once I figured out how I wanted them to lay I glued them in place and found a spot for the fallen gingerbread man, too.
  9. The Oh snap! was done on a flag I had from an Art-c Thinking of you clear stamp and die set. I used Black embossing powder and adhered it with a piece of foam tape.
  10. I finished the card off with some white metallic cord I had in my stash to wrap it around the top of the card and tied it in a bow.
I hope you find making this card as much fun as I did. I'm looking forward to mailing this one to my brother for the Holidays. I hope you leave me a comment below as to what you think of this card or any other comments you  may have. Thank you for your interest and look forward to having you visit again in the future.

Confidence is Sexy

Hello everyone, I chose to start with this card this week because it represents the Beauty of having confidence in what you do, how you feel, who you are and how you express yourself. I think the only way you can succeed is by having confidence in yourself and by wearing it proudly.

  1. The stamp I used for this card is named "Maple girl" from Unity Stamp Company.
  2.  I used Prismacolor colored pencils from the Scholar line, to color her.
  3. Then I used Tim Holtz Distress Markers for the leaves by her feet.
  4.  I recently purchased this label Die set from Sizzix to cut her out and for the brown label background.
  5. I added the some leaves from Pumkin Hollow for texture before glueing her to the front of the card.
  6.  I used a black embossing powder for the sediment on this card. The sediment is from Inkadinkado. Its part of a set I picked up at a local craft supply store.

It was fun creating this card. I have a friend in mind for this one and she was my inspiration. I can't wait to mail it to her! I hope that you enjoy this tutorial and look forward to all your comments. Happy crafting Everyone!!!
